Essential pre-assessment information
Bariatric surgery is a major, life altering intervention and it is important that you understand what you will need to do to give yourself the best possible chance for a successful outcome and are fully aware of the risks and implications of the procedure. To support you with making the right choices for your circumstances and to enable you to prepare for your initial assessment with the service, our team have put together a series of videos that will provide you with essential information.
Please work your way through these short videos before your initial assessment where you will be asked to complete a short quiz to check your understanding of the information provided. After your assessment, you will be required to attend a Question and Answers session where you will have the opportunity to discuss any concerns or queries you may have or to seek clarification on anything you didn’t understand in the video.
We would encourage you to try to implement the changes that are advised in the videos ahead of your appointments with our team. Making changes early will allow you to use the appointment time with the clinician to discuss areas that you have struggled with and you will be able to benefit from tailored advice on overcoming these difficulties allowing you to progress within the bariatric pathway towards surgery more swiftly.
