In-patient Pain Service

The Homerton In patient pain team consists of Clinical Nurses Specialists and two Pain Consultants.
Our team review in-patients across the hospital and support creation of effective  pain management plans based on the individual needs of the patient.
The pain team help to educate and support staff in the hospital to maintain and improve standards of care for patients and optimise provision of pain management.


Our case load

Daily pain post-operative ward rounds with anaesthetists.
Review of complex pain patients with pain consultants every Tuesday and every other Thursday.
Support in managing patients with Acute on Chronic pain.
Trauma patients admitted with fractures, i.e., fractured ribs, hip fractures.
Reviewing painful medical conditions such as pancreatitis and cholecysitis.
Review of all patients with patient controlled analgesia.
Reviewing chronic pain patients in Accident and Emergency department.


Referrals

We accept referrals for In Patients from all Healthcare Professionals.
Referrals can be made via Electronic Patient records (EPR) Telephone, in person, bleep.


Chronic Pain

Patients with chronic pain should be referred to their local Chronic Pain Service via their GP.
Locomotor physiotherapy and Locomotor Pain Services at St Leonard's Hospital only accept referrals for Hackney residents with a City and Hackney GP or non-Hackney residents with a City and Hackney GP.
